There is a theory that the Christian holiday of Easter is named after this Saxon Goddess. This theory springing from the Venerable Bede’s Temporum Ratione. In which Bede tells us that April as known as Eostre Month and sacred to Eostre.
So who exactly was Eostre? While little remains to us, since so much of the oral tradition was lost, is that she was a fertility Goddess and a Goddess of Spring.
Some link her to the Greek Goddess of the Dawn Eos and others say she may not have even been a Goddess at all. Instead just the spirit of the Holiday of Springtide.
But this seems to be the case in many of the old Pagan Gods and Goddesses. Christianity succeeded in wiping out much of lore, mostly by attrition. Our ancestors didn’t use it so it was lost.
So this Ostara I encourage us to call upon Eostre and have a conversation. Maybe we can find out how she wants to be honored.
Blessed Be!

Seems we were thinking along the exact same lines this week. :)
Got back later then I expected from meet and greet last night. So this is what I halfway ready at the moment.
